What I love most about delivering is seeing participants get together, make friends and be part of something they enjoy. I'm happy was able to assist with that

After volunteering for a year with the YMCA, Lucinda was keen to take the step into leading sessions so when an opportunity came up to deliver Zumba at the YMCA she jumped at it. After completing her training to become a Zumba instructor back in June 2015 it led to her delivering a session at the YMCA, since then Lucinda has linked into a variety of projects delivering Zumba sessions across the City.
In January 2016 Lucinda began teaching a class at The Chase in St Anns as part of the Fit In the Community project. Despite a slow start and limited numbers, Lucinda’s passion and drive to see the session succeed and bring something positive to the St Anns community led to numbers rising, often through word of mouth after participants had such a great experience at the session.
The Zumba session is now thriving and since then Lucinda has also started a Legs, Bums and Tums session at The Chase, adding more opportunity and variety for local women to participate. When asked about the session Lucinda said “What I love most about delivering in the session is seeing participants get together, make friends and be part of something they enjoy. I'm happy I was able to assist with that”.
“People come to the session for all kinds of reasons, social, get fit, lose weight and tone up. Some might be there just to distress and forget about life’s problems. Many of my participants have gained something positive from regular attendance such as inch loss, weight loss and increases in confidence! Some have made friends and enjoy the social aspect of the class. Come along and make a difference to your life in this friendly fun session”
For those who might be thinking about getting into coaching Lucinda says, “If you're passionate about something you should just go for it regardless of any doubt or criticism. When you get past that hurdle it is so worth it especially when your skills and confidence grow”.
